Large Chinese porcelain vase potted in a celestial form, bulbous body with round shoulder gently tapered toward tall cylindrical neck, leading to slightly wider rim; raised upon a flat concaved base. The exterior delicately decorated in vivid colorful famille rose hand painting of red Fu bats flying over flowering and fruiting peach abundant. The pomegranate (shiliu ??) signifies the sixth month of the lunar calendar and, because of its many seeds, represents fertility, offspring and descendants. For this reason, the pomegranate is an important symbol in Chinese marriages. The first character (shi ?) has the same pronunciation as the word for "generations" (shi ?) and thus strengthens the meaning as generations of descendants. The pomegranate is a member of the Three Abundances (Three Plenty's).
Mark on base, a six blue seal script -ZhuanShu- characters reign mark, YongZheng Reign Period of Great Qing.
