Brocade 18th or 19th century ecclesiastical chasuble vestment. The European ecclesiastic religious chasuble was most likely worn by a French or Italian priest of the Roman Catholic church. The colorful floral brocaded metallic and silk fabric is entirely hand woven and finished with a gold metallic passementerie trim edging. The early linen lining is hand woven. There is some light staining and splits in fabric typical and to be expected with an early textile of this age. Measures 44 inches in length and 26 inches in width. From the estate of a New York collector.
