拍品描述: Chinese Qing Dynasty ink and color painting on paper, laid to silk, long scroll. Grisaille hand painted in fine brush stroke and light natural color, depicting figures traversing within a waterside landscape and humble village nestled in mountainous scene. Superb works on drawings give detailed directions for representing every kind of scenery, expressions of the mind and heart of the artist, cultivated landscapes that embody the culture and cultivation of his time. Every characteristic feature of this country landscape painting is held by the artist to correspond to phases of the human soul; A ford is a fitting adjunct to a precipitous bank, and smokes and tress add to the picturesqueness of a stretch of water, with large sheet of water dotted with sails. A solitary city in the distance and a market town at the foot of the mountain introduced with advantage.
Numerous calligraphy inscriptions and signed by the artists, with numerous iron-red signature seals. Mounted on creme silk border.

The portion of the sale will benefit a local church in Atlanta area.

PROVENANCE:

From the collection of General Chen Qi é?3淇; (1912-2000), who styled himself as “Cangquan” (???泉and “Yuquanshanren”??‰泉?±±人), an artist, calligrapher, a prominent businessman and private antiques collector.

EDEN Fine Antiques Galleries is honored and proud to offer, once again, to be the last General Chen Qi's heirloom collections including unpublished painting from Zhang DaQian, Fu BaoShi, Qi BaiShi, Huang JunBi, Wu ChangShuo, Xu BeiHong, Dong ShouPing, Dong BangDa, Li XiongCai, and many other famous artists; along with his extraordinary Chinese porcelain collections.
General Chen Qi's collections can be found on Lot-128 through Lot-161 (Day 1), continuing at Lot-402 through Lot-423 (Day 2).
