Lacquer technique with gold and silver, horn. Japan, 19th cent.
Two-tiered inro with golden nashiji on black roironuri. The depiction with silver (patinated to grey) offers on one side a flying bird long, fluttering tail feathers in the manner of a phoenix. On reverse is a rocky island with bushes, partly with kirigane. Minor damage due to age. The elegantly designed inro can unfortunately not be opened.
Spherical ojime of blue glass, netsuke of horn presents a composition with shells and/or with chestnut, in which an insect is located. Hollow inside, brown coloring, central cord channel.
