拍品描述: Lacquer technique, gold and inlay. Japan, 19th cent. Three-tiered inro with depiction on both sides of shishi (lion dogs) in a peony grove, a popular motif. Two shishi with full manes, ferocious faces and bushy tails are very lively and expressive. Peony blossoms botan, rocks and a pine trunk surround them. The work is with red lacquer on black roironuri, some gold and several highlights with mother-of-pearl inlay. Traces of use. Included is a spherical ojime and, as well a netsuke of black ebony, presenting an upright standing, three-clawed, scaly dragon tatsu. This is expressively crafted and stands on a round base.
