拍品描述: Bronze with fire gilding. Nepal, 17th until 18th cent. A very interesting and rare bronze sculpture, preserved in its original state. Indra, originally a storm deity, was later called King of the Gods. He is in this bronze depicted with four arms and carries the attributes goad ankusha, lotus (?), vajra = thunder bolt and the magic bow vijaya. He stands in stride on a lotus base over a half-reclining elephant and bears diadem, jewelry and flaming nimbus. The horizontal Third Eye is definitive for Indra. Age and smoke patina, mostly well preserved fire gilding. HEIGHT 15,8 CM From an old German collection
