Fire-gilded Bronze. Nepal, 17th cent.
The Sadhita – tantric deities – bear four heads and hold an attribute in each hand (complete), i.e. three-headed Brahma in lowest hand on the right side. The main hands are crossed and hold vajra and bell ghanta. His consort in fervent posture vajravarahi. She embraces him, in the free hand raised high a cleaver should be held. Cakrasamvara wears a multi-pointed crown, tall hair bun and flaming nimbus, standing in stride on the bodies of Hindu gods on a broad, tiered base with lotus leaf decor. Age patina, altogether good preservation.
