拍品描述: Bronze with fire gilding. Tibet, approx. 18th cent. A bronze-figurine with the rare depiction of Shariputra. He is one of Buddha’s main disciples, his talents made it possible for him to preach in representation of Buddha resp. to comment on the teachings. In depictions Buddha is, as a rule, flanked by Shariputra and Maudgalyayana. This bronze shows the Arhat (disciple of Buddha) from the front standing on a round lotus base, in the right hand holding a patra (alms bowl), the finger positions show the gesture of demon protection, and in the other a khakkhara (rattle stick). Floor-lenth robe with decorated seams, nicely expressive facial features. On the back is an area where votive offerings were contained in the bronze.
