拍品描述: FELIX CHARPENTIER (FRENCH, 1858-1924) Matinado signed 'F. Charpentier', and inscribed 'MATINADO' bronze, dark-brown patina 41 in. (104.2 cm.) high Conceived circa 1909. This bronze circa 1910. Charpentier studied at the école des Beaux-Arts, Paris and began showing at the Salons from 1882. Known for allegorical works which primarily featured curvaceous female figures intertwined with flora executed in a free and flowing style, he may be considered an artist of the 'Art Nouveau'. This is perhaps best exemplified in his figures of Sailing and Steam conceived for the facade of Gare de Lyon. Conceived in 1909, the present model deftly captures the energy and tension of a body stretching into consciousness after a deep sleep. The original life-size marble Bello Matinado is in the collection of the musée des Beaux-Arts, Arras (inv. RF3934) and another marble example in the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes, Rio de Janeiro. A reduction of the model was also produced in biscuit de Sèvres. Finally, a patinated plaster example of the present model is currently in the collection of the H?tel de Ville, Ville de Bollène and was exhibited in the retrospective Félix Charpentier (1858-1924) at the Musée Louis Vouland, Avignon, 17 June - 16 October 2005 (illustrated in é. Aujard-Catot and G. Peigné, Félix Charpentier (1858-1924), Musée Louis Vouland, 2005, fig. 80). The present lot appears to be the only known bronze cast.
