Fire-gilt repousse. China, Qing
Standing four-legged animal with a bulky body and strikingly large head, dramatically facing up with full, prominent eyes. It is a likely a depiction of a dog, despite the snout-shaped mouth. The relief offers large spirals on the thighs, archaistic hook- as well as grid-patterns. Strong green patina on the areas without gilding.
HEIGHT 9,3 CM, LENGTH 10,3 CM
