Bronze. China, Qing, approx. 18th cent.
Shakyamuni, named Shijiamouni in China, seated on a tall lotus pedestal in dhyanasana, his hands in dhyanamudra in full meditation. This tranquil and balanced portrayal in contrasted by the sharp edged rendition of the lotus throne. A mild smile and introspective facial expression, an urna on the forehead and a lotus bud topping the ushnisha. Dark brown patina, very good condition.
