拍品描述: Cloth painting with gold on fabric. India, in the Mogul style, 1st half of 20th cent. A particularly large painting with gold on fabric and charming colours. The architecture of a palace is depicted in beautiful soft colours within the floral border in portrait format. The lavishly clad Raja is sitting on a roofed terrace and leaning against a large cushion. A shinning halo encircles his head. He is surrounded by a servant, people paying tribute to him and presumably merchants trying to convince him of the quality of their goods (silk cloth), or presenting gifts. Precisely painted faces, garments as well as various objects. Landscape background and a high palace wall in front with the typical delicate towers.
