A FINE GROUP OF SIX MIXED-METAL FUCHIJapan, 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868)The set includes: a shakudo fuchi on a nanako background depicting an openworked pine forest with a boldly shaped border formed by the outline of the treetops, signed TANI HOSHU; a shakudo fuchi decorated in copper hirazogan and gold takazogan to represent a crab and an ear of millet, the background gently carved in kebori to represent the calm waters of a river, signed YASUCHIKA; a shibuichi fuchi adorned with gold and silver katazogan to represent Mount Fuji with its snow-capped summit jutting out from the edge of the fuchi between two swirling clouds along with smaller mountains with bushes growing on their surface, signed KAWAKATSU NORIKAZU (Jowa); a suaka fuchi finely inlaid in gold and shakudo takazogan depicting a fierce dragon with its scaly body finely carved in kebori breaking through the swirling clouds, neatly worked in katakiribori, signed TOSHINAGA; a shakudo fuchi worked in gold and silver takazogan on a nanako ground to depict a rat next to a blossoming tree branch, signed MORIYOSHI; a copper fuchi inlaid in gold and shakudo takazogan and hirazogan to represent a bear perched on a tree trunk among branches on a hammered ground, signed YUKIYOSHI.LENGTH 3.8 cm (the largest)WEIGHT 26.3 g (the heaviest)Condition: Very good condition with minor wear.
