PRADESH, 18TH-19TH CENTURYFinely cast standing in a slight tribhanga atop a lotus pedestal, the primary right hand raised in abhaya mudra, the lowered left clasped around kundika, the radiating secondary arms holding various attributes including lasso, rosary, sutra, trident, and lotus, with one arm lowered in the gesture of charity (varada mudra). The deity is flanked by a dimunitive figure of Ganesha and a consort, with two attendants holding staffs kneeling at his heels, all raised atop a lotus base with a protruding makara spout.Provenance: German trade.Condition: Overall good condition with wear and casting irregularities. Scattered nicks and scratches, small dents, encrustations, and old fills. Remnants of gilt. Naturally grown patina with areas of malachite encrustations.Weight: 488.4 gDimensions: Height 12.5 cmAmoghapasa represents a tantric form of Avalokiteshvara and is regarded as the tutelary deity of the Kathmandu Valley.
