Firman from Dârâ Shikôh, Mughal India, dated October 11, 1657 Large handwritten paper document with 5 lines of text in Persian nasta'liq in black ink. The text is preceded by the Bismillah and then by the two tughras of Emperor Shah Jahan and Prince Dârâ Shikôh respectively, in square format and calligraphed in gold and red ink with cursive letters with high ascenders. Beside, cachet dated 30 [year of reign] 1066 H / 1655 in the prince's full name accompanied by his titles: "Shah Buland Iqbal Muhammad Dara Shikuh Ibn Shah Jahan Padishah Ghazi". This firman is addressed to a certain Hari Singh to thank him for his services. The last sentence of the edict gives the date of writing as 3 Muharram in the 31st year of the reign, 1068 AH / October 11, 1657. On the reverse, Sanskrit phrase at the top and stamp indicating "Wazîr Khân bi Sind Shâh Buland Iqbâl" and the date of the 31st [year of reign] 1067 H / 1656. 82.5 x 41 cm Wetness, stains, folds, small tears, wear. Dârâ Shikôh (March 20, 1615 - August 30, 1659) was the eldest of four sons of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal.
