French 19th century Louis XV Trumeau mirror with carved cherubs.The neoclassical Trumeau or pier mirror has a central round medallion at the top which depicts cherubs with a background of a crescent moon and a flying owl. The medallion is framed with a solid wooden carved shell border. There are two stylized gilt acanthus figures on either side and shell carving along the bottom. The mirror is painted green and the central reserve is white. The carved elements are from one solid piece of wood, there is no applied carving. In good condition, center medallion has two visible age cracks. Measures 77 inches high x 41.5 inches wide.
