A rare Chinese Peking glass three-colour jar, Qing Dynasty, the squat shouldered body of bubble-suffused translucent blue, supported on short tripod legs and with double mask handles, the details carved, fused to the sides at the widest part, decorated in overlaid metal of greenish colour carved with two chilong, among red flame scrolls, each turned to bite its tail, the short narrow neck with greenish lipped rim, 8cm high
Provenance: Purchased by the current owner at Sotheby's, London, 12th November, 1979, 78, from the collection of Professor P.H. Plesch and Mrs T. Plesch.
This was described in the Sotheby's catalogue as 18th century and compared to a larger but related piece in the City Museum and Art Gallery, Bristol (No. N 4555) .
