Description An abstract composition. Ink on paper. Dated 1985.12, signed Yu Feng and sealed Gebi guilai (Back from the Gobi desert). Matted, framed and glazed. The artist Yu Feng (1916-2007) worked at the Palace Museum in Beijing in the 1980s and was the director of the Chinese Artists Association. She was married to the well-known calligrapher Huang Miaozi (1913-2012). In its abstract style the present painting differs greatly from her traditional work. According to Prof. Roger Goepper, former director of the Museum for East Asian Art in Cologne, the artist expresses her enthusiasm for the change in China and the conception of Western art. It was made in connection with the exhibition in Cologne.
