拍品描述
Fired clay. Pre-Columbian America, Lambayeque, around 1000 (time examined) Even bottom, the front of the vessel body is dominated by a sculptural depicted face. The ears are massive and sticking out like handles. Striking head covering with conical, diagonally expansive opening, visor of the cap covers the eyes reaching to the bridge of the nose, seeming to be of our time. Reddish to grey color of the clay, age characteristics with spots, altogether very good preservation. TL-tested for time. The Lambayeque Culture (also called Sican) experienced its peak at approx. 700 to later 14th century and was on the North coast of Peru. Sounding like French, "Lambayeque" comes from the Muchik language and is derived from the mythical figure of Naymlap. HEIGHT 17,4 CM Former collection Dr. Gottfried Eysank of Marienfels, Bad Sch?nau, Lower Austria, acquired prior to 1970 The vessel is illustrated in “Schaetze Alt-Amerikas“ of Ulrich Hoffmann, Stuttgart 2002, on page 310 Certificate No. 31010911 of TL-age examination in the German Laboratory Kotalla of September 2011 is available
