拍品描述: Bronze. Burma, 19th to 20th century This Buddha sculpture is in the Mandalay style and captures an excellent expression. Buddha stands barefoot on a small, round lotus pedestal. Both hands hang down, one holds the hem of his robes, the other a small sphere symbolizing “a grain of truth”. Balanced yet powerful folds in the robe that add a lot of life to the entire depiction and are especially vivid towards the bottom of the uttarasanga in the samghati area. The juvenile facial features are even and introverted, the downcast eyes effective inlays. Typical for this style is the domed ushnisha without a lotus bud on top. The locks are represented by small domed in rows. The patina is dense, black-brown with some green sections. HEIGHT 106 CM Collection Sohel Ch., New Delhi – Vienna A noteworthy share of the antiques offered here – around 130 lots – originate from the Collection Sohel Ch., a successful business man from Delhi who spent many years in Vienna. The part of his collection, which we here offer, was mainly acquired in the art trade of Vienna. The chief reason for his collecting activity, which he perpetuated with considerable specialized knowledge, sense for quality and great committment, was to establish a private Asian museum in his native city of New Delhi.
