Silk embroidery with gold threads and inlays. Burma, approx. first half 20th century
Richly figurative depiction with underlined embroidery, resulting in a certain semi-plastic effect. In the center is a Konbaung prince next to a white elephant, considered to be a "sacred animal". All around is dance and music, dancers respectively framed. The entire depiction is filled with multi-colored glass beads framed in a wide border; the underground color is deep black, which enhances the pictoral effect. Some damage to the edge due to age, in average however good preservation.
