Glazed ceramic. Siam, Sawankhalok, around 15th cent.
This attractive and typical Sawankhalok bowl offers compactly crafted body with flaring sides. In font, a wheel-formed, multi-leaved lotus flower, surrounded by circles. On the sides, four vier oval medallions with presumably lotus buds, depicted in the art of the magical, flaming pearl Ratna in Buddhism. The green Seladon glaze with rich craquelé, particularly effective on the plain exterior, where also beautiful, shades of blueish glaze nuances are distinctive. Unglazed bottom with caking, as well as older label with note "Svengalotea" (Sawankhalok). Some traces of use in font, Altogether very good preservation.
