拍品描述: Slightly reddish sandstone. Cambodia, Old Khmer Kingdom, approximatley 12nd cent. A fine torso, the facial expression sensitively crafted, the head crowned with a tiara bearing decoration in relief, and with conical ushnisha, the hair line visible at the ears, with lowered eyes and sublime expression, the body shown posing in a slight tribhanga (rarely shown at Buddha sculpturing, however there are examples proven) highlighting the sensual expression, sambat and decorated belt partially preserved, mounted on a wooden base. HEIGHT (WITHOUT BASE) 43,7 CM From a German private collection, afterwards collection Sohel Ch., New Delhi – Vienna A noteworthy share of the antiques offered here – around 130 lots – originate from the Collection Sohel Ch., a successful business man from Delhi who spent many years in Vienna. The part of his collection, which we here offer, was mainly acquired in the art trade of Vienna. The chief reason for his collecting activity, which he perpetuated with considerable specialized knowledge, sense for quality and great committment, was to establish a private Asian museum in his native city of New Delhi.
