拍品描述: Grey slate. Gandhara, 2nd to 4th cent. Seated with crossed legs in padmasana on a throne is Buddha Shakyamuni, very open facial features with big eyes and determined chin, ushnisha already developed and wavy hair. Numerous robe pleats is typical for the Hellenistic influence of Gandhara style. The position of both hands shows the "ignition" of Dharmacakra, teaching, e.g. preaching following enlightenment. Buddha sits in before a sun-like circular halo. The traces of age are pronounced, Buddha himself is well preserved, a larger flaw only in the area of the original base. On a black base.
