China, Ming Dynasty, approximatley 17th century The boy is standing with legs apart on a stepped base with a waist mid-section, each side rendered with geometric decoration and lobed opening within a field, the base is supported of four flared foot stands, partially decorated with volutes, The boy holding garlands in both hands, one shoulder decorated with lotus and with one aperture, possibly pierced for an object, the bottom bearing a hand written inscription, very fine brown patina with remnants of black lacquer. HEIGHT 25,2 CM From a Viennese private collection, afterwards collection Sohel Ch., New-Delhi - Vienna 青銅吉祥兒童立像. 中國, 明代 (1368–1644). 高 25.2 厘米. A noteworthy share of the antiques offered here – around 130 lots – originate from the Collection Sohel Ch., a successful business man from Delhi who spent many years in Vienna. The part of his collection, which we here offer, was mainly acquired in the art trade of Vienna. The chief reason for his collecting activity, which he perpetuated with considerable specialized knowledge, sense for quality and great committment, was to establish a private Asian museum in his native city of New Delhi.
