Glazed ceramic. China, Yuan until Ming Dynasty
Very rare, early Seladon vase in best condition. In the lower conically dilating vessel segment is a frieze with rowed pointy leaves, medium-sized neck with rounded, glared mouth. Quite unusual here is the three-dimensionally composed cat on the rather flat shoulder, the back legs are wide apart and the tail is endless long. Seen from behind the cat is more a tiger. Very beautiful, homogeneous grey-green glaze of this Longquan ware. Foot ring and inner rim are unglazed and brownish. Very good preservation, a unique collector′s object!
