Although the artist has not been identified, his work is known from a distinct group of five shishi netsuke, discussed in the Sydney Moss catalogue More Things in Heaven and Earth, no. 25

Please note: this lot contains ivory and is therefore subject to the relevant trade restrictions in correspondence with CITES regulations. The import of ivory in to the United States has been banned.
