Himalayan Art. A thangka depicting Amitayus Mongolia, 19th century . A small thangka depicting the Trascendent Buddha Amitayus seated in padmasana, both hands on his lap holding the phial with the sacred nectar. The figure is characterised by the red skin, the five pointed crown and long lose hair around his shoulders. In the corners of the composition are four characters: the historical Buddha, the reformed Tsongkapa, the three headed Usnisavijaya and White Tara with her seven eyes.
