Himalayan Art. A thangka depicting Buddha Tibet, 18th century . A small but elegant thangka depicting the historical Buddha seated in padmasana, crowned with a blue and gold halo and surrounded by vine sprays and peony buds. His right hand touches the ground in bhumisparsamudra whilst the left holds the patra bowl. The figure is flanked by two of his principal students Sariputra and Maudgalyayana and generous votive offerings are exhibited at the base of the triptych.
