拍品描述: Description Marie-Jules Justin (French, 1847-1891). "The Dreamer" 1860. Signed and dated on lower right. A playful painting depicting a young man sleeping on a garden bench with three young ladies at balustrade above showering him with rose petals. All are dressed in satin and lace, and the genre is reminiscent of Rococo fete galante paintings depicting outdoor amusements of French upper class society. What's more, the dreamy color palette, whimsical theme, and air of gentility relate to 18th century Rococo taste thatclearly influenced this 19th century French artist. Housed in a lovely gold gesso frame. Size (canvas): 19.1" W x 31.6" H (48.5 cm x 80.3 cm); (frame): 25.2" W x 37.7" H (64 cm x 95.8 cm) Please note: A label on the verso from The Curzon Gallery at the Boca Raton Resort and Club lists it with a price of $9,500.
