(228 cm. x 29 cm.)The scholars and their attendants are depicted in a landscape with ornamental rocks, plaintain trees, pine trees, bamboo and a pavilion, engaged in various leisurely pursuits including playing the qin, playing go, reading, calligraphy, drinking wine and appreciating paintings.; Please note this lot is the property of a private individual."Scholar officials and the wealthy educated elite were traditionally interested in the intellectual pursuits of composing and reciting poetry, art collecting, painting and antiquarianism and they were often portrayed in Chinese painting engaged in these activities. Along with these intellectual pursuits, cultured hobbies included playing the qin, playing go, tea drinking, and drinking wine. This painting depicts scholars enjoying many of these favoured pastimes.
