拍品描述: earlier, comprising; a large adze inscribed on paper label 'Avignon' 18cm x 5.5cm, a medium sized adze inscribed on paper label 'Digne' 11.5cm x 5cm, small adze inscribed on paper label 'Vaucluse, France', 4.8cm x 3.8cm, another similar adze inscribed on paper label 'Cannes Alpes Maritime', 5.1cm x 4.5cm, another inscribed on paper label 'Jade celt Cannes', 5.2cm x 2.8cm, another inscribed in black ink 'Sospelle In a grave Mentone', 8.5cm x 2.5cm, and two others faintly inscribed in pencil Avignon, 15cm x 7cm and 11cm x 7cm, (8). Provenance: James Ewing Somerville (1843-1923) who had a second home in Menton, South of France and would visit Ventimiglia in Northern Italy to attend "Roman sales" in the period circa 1880-1900.
