A pair of pottery tiles of Bodhisattvas
Probably 12th CenturyEach pottery brick slightly hollowed with an alcove housing a Bodhisattva, one depicted standing on a lotus pedestal with right hand raised, the left hand clasping a vase, the face in contemplation beneath a high chignon bun with the hair falling elegantly at the shoulders, the other figure shown seated, both clad in loose-fitting robes, blue, red and white pigment visible. Each 28cm (11in) high. (2).
