拍品描述: PROBABLY DRESDEN, CIRCA 1765 in the form of a lady's shoe, the box of cloudy-agate quartz mounted à jour within reeded polished gold mounts with raised chased scroll thumbpiece, applied silver-mounted jewelled buckle with carved ribbon surround 3? in. (90 mm.) wide German porcelain factories in the 18th century produced many objects and boxes in the form of shoes, hats, étuis, and animal figures. With the close proximity to the factory at Meissen, it would seem that the goldsmiths of Dresden were inspired to create similar novelty items from the colourful hardstones and quartz that were to be found in this area of Saxony.
