拍品描述: A NEAR PAIR OF RUSSIAN ORMOLU-MOUNTED CUT CRYSTAL EWERS THE GLASS ATTRIBUTED TO THE IMPERIAL GLASS FACTORY, CIRCA 1815 Each with ribbed neck encircled by a leaf-cast collar joined by a serpentine dragon-form handle with spiralling tail, the ovi-form diamond-cut body above a stepped and spreading circular base; minor differences to the bodies and the mounts 12 ? in. (32.5 cm.) high Mounted with jewel-like serpentine dragon-form handles, these intricately-cut glass ewers are outstanding examples of the glassware produced by the Imperial Glass Factory in St. Petersburg. Unrivalled throughout Europe during the Empire period, pieces in 'Russian stone' were famed for the clarity of their glass, mirror-like polish and skilful faceting.
