拍品描述: A LOUIS XIV ORMOLU-MOUNTED BRASS-INLAID EBONY AND TORTOISESHELL 'BOULLE' MARQUETRY ARMOIRE ATTRIBUTED TO NICOLAS SAGEOT, EARLY 18TH CENTURY AND LATER Inlaid overall in contre partie with engraved foliate scrolls, arabesques and bérainesque patterns, the cushioned pediment above two glazed doors with three adjustable brass-fronted shelves, the lower section with two panelled cupboard doors each centred with a scene of Hercules slaying Cerberus, with foliate clasp angle mounts and central mask with laurel wreath and foliate trail, the sides with line inlay, on a conformingly-inlaid shaped bracket base; partially re-constructed, with losses, lifting and restorations 98 in. (249 cm.) high; 57 ? in. (147 cm.) wide; 18 ? in. (46.5 cm.) deep Designed in the Louis XIV 'antique' manner developed by André-Charles Boulle and Jean Bérain, this armoire can be firmly attributed to the work of the ébéniste Nicolas Sageot, whose oeuvre is discussed by P. Grand in 'Le Mobilier Boulle et les ateliers de l'epoque', L'Estampille L'Objet d'Art, February 1993, pp. 48 - 70. An almost identical armoire, stamped by Nicolas Sageot, was sold at Christie's, London, 9 June 2011, lot 81 (￡133,250).
