Hanging Scroll Depicting a Lady, China, in the manner of Fei Danxu (1802-1850), standing under a blooming tree, inscribed and signed with two seals, ink and color on silk, painting 38 1/2 x 16 5/8 in. Provenance: Descended in the family of Dr. Marshall Hertig, an internationally noted medical entomologist who conducted research on disease bearing insects at the Peking Union Medical College, from 1923-1928, his wife Edwina Smiley Hertig, and their son Bruce Allerton Hertig to the present owner. Estimate $800-1,000 damaged with horizontal tears and a temporary repair with sheer paper on the back. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
