A George III silver vinaigrette, of rounded rectangular form with stippled and punch engraved decoration and vacant oval panel, the hinged cover opening to reveal a lozenge pierced silver-gilt grille, hallmarked Birmingham, probably 1814, maker's mark IT, probably John Thropp. Together with a George IV example, of similar form and decoration, the hinged cover opening to reveal a foliate pierced silver-gilt grille, hallmarked Birmingham 1822, maker's mark TS, probably Thomas Shaw. Length of largest example 2.5cm, total weight 16.4 grams. (2). With scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing.First example with blemish to centre of cover, probably tarnishing. Cover closes but with very slight gap to one side. Interior possibly re-gilded. Interior worn and scratched. Hallmarks partly worn.Second example with a few small indentations.
