An Indian Kutch silver claret jug in the style of Oomersi Mawji, the vase shape body to a circular domed foot, with waisted neck, flared wavy rim with hinged lid and scroll handle, profusely decorated to the whole with floral and foliate scroll repoussé within stiff leaf borders, the main body further chased with a hunting scene depicting men on horseback holding spears in pursuit of various wild animals with hunting dogs and an elephant, and a further huntsman on horseback finial atop the hinged lid. Appears unmarked. Maximum height 12.5 (32cm), gross weight 33.85 ozt (1052.7 grams). Appears in good overall condition, displaying some general expected surface wear, marks and scratches.With some tarnishing, particularly to the matted ground. A few surface dints including slight compression at the lower join of the handle to the main body. Further knock around the foot. Some light surface wear and rubbing to areas of the decoration with some slight loss of detail but overall decoration mostly still crisp and bright.Hinged lid appears in good working order. The huntsman's spear is loose but still present. The metal has been tested and the results vary between 94-98% Ag. Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals.
