A mid-Victorian silver four piece tea and coffee set, comprising teapot, coffee pot, twin-handled sucrier and lidded cream jug, of squat pear form and raised on a circular pierced base with four scroll feet, each decorated to the whole with chased and embossed flowers and foliage surrounding twin opposed scrolled cartouche, one vacant, the other having an engraved stag crest, with acanthus capped scroll handle and hinged lid surmounted with a bird finial, the tea and coffee pots further embellished with satyr masks to the zoomorphic spout. Hallmarked Robert Harper, London 1862. Height of coffee pot including finial 10.75 (27.5cm), gross weight 101.35 ozt (3152 grams). All pieces with some heavy tarnishing throughout and would benefit from a clean and polish.Displaying some expected surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. Minor surface nicks and dints. Some surface rubbing and wear to areas of the decoration with some slight loss of surface detail but overall decoration appears in good order. Some visible seam lines with possible small repairs, mainly to handles and spouts. Handles of tea and coffee pots with ivory insulators. Pins loose on teapot causing some movement to the handle section. All hinged lids appear in working order and close flush. Damage to hinge pin on cream jug. Bird finial to teapot lid is loose and cannot be tightened properly. Further damage and repairs to the other bird finials but all with part hallmarks. Main hallmarks to all pieces located to bases, all clear and legible with light rubbing, including matching part hallmarks to various sections.
