拍品描述: MID 20TH CENTURY GOLD AND SAPPHIRE DESK CLOCK, CARTIER Calibré and fancy-cut sapphires, Charles I silver coin, gold (London hallmarks), 1952, mechanical movement, 11.1x8.7x3.9 cm, signed Cartier London and designed by R. Emmerson, maker's mark JC, no. 7554, associated maroon case, dial glass cracked Trained at the Chiswick Art School and working on insignia and medals for De Gaulle’s Victory Parade in 1944, Rupert Emmerson became famous for designing the highly popular ‘Crash Watch’ for Cartier in 1966 and for his contribution to Cartier London’s reputation as one of the most important jewellery houses of the era.
