A PAIR OF CHINESE CLOISONNé ENAMEL 'DRAGON' STIRRUPS.
Qing Dynasty, Qianlong period (1735 – 1796).
Each with a flat circular base attached to a high arch surmounted by a pair of dragon heads with a rectangular aperture between them, all decorated in colourful enamels with stylised kui dragons against a turquoise-ground, 14cm H. (2)
Provenance: from the collection of Sir Thomas Everard Tichbome Upton (1871 – 1940), thence by descent to the present owner.
