A rare Tibetan conch-shell trumpet
19th centuryMounted with a white metal repoussé shaft and flower form terminal, the adjoining metal scroll-form plate decorated to the centre with Kirtimukha flanked by a pair of dragons, surrounded by four bodhisattvas seated on lotus bases with flaming mandorlas, interspersed with turquoise and imitation coral inlay and tear-drop-shaped decoration, inscribed copper plate to the reverse.44.5cm (17.1/2in) long.
