A Victorian Sheraton revival demi lune commode in the manner of Wright and Mansfield, by Marsh, Jones & Cribb of Leeds, the top with radiating veneer, the curved front?having a single cupboard door,?inlaid with floral garlands, set with?three painted cartouches of Classical scenes, raised on splayed supports,?with makers label verso, height 97cm x width 123cm x depth 55cm.
Wright and Mansfield were famous for their reproduction furniture in 18th Century styles. They had premises at 3 Great Portland Street followed by 104 New Bond Street. A number of pieces are in the collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Marsh, Jones and Cribb had premises in Leeds and also Cavendish Square, London. They worked with designers such as Charles Bevan and Bruce James Talbert, later joined by Gillows cabinetmakers A. I. Swift and E. J. Thompson.
