拍品描述: Chinese Rare Galloping Jade War Horse Stepping over Frightened Flying Bird, Zhou dynasty Measurements: Length: 9 inches = 22.5 cm; Height: 6 ? inches = 17 cm; Width: 2 ? inches = 7 cm; Weight = 3 lb. 14 oz. = 1760 g; Estimated price = $80,000: Research and authenticity: This jade war horse is from the Zhou period (1046-256 BCE) and predates the famous galloping bronze horse of Gansu museum. The galloping bronze horse stepping over flying swallow is a symbol of China’s tourism. While the composition and galloping style of this jade horse is similar to the Gansu bronze horse, the body design, including the war head ware, nose and neck guards, are reminiscent of the western and nomadic influence. The folk lore of the Turkestan war horses that can travel faster than the flying swallow has been of intensive research. War horses are treasures of noble warriors. They were often buried with the deceased. Sometimes bronze horses and less common jade horses were also buried with the dead. Provenance: A seasoned antique collector, Chinese professor from New Jersey, USA, who wishes to divest his high value estate collection. Microscopic research: growing crystals, traces of application of ancient tools (carving, drilling holes, etc) (Over years, I acquired from various sources, a few of them. I probably have the largest collection of this unique jade horse with Assyrian & Persian Influence – the so-called the heavenly galloping horse of the west, according to records of Zhou and Han dynasty documents. This is the precursor of famous bronze horse of Han, which came much later! Probably tributes to high ranking Zhou warriors, according to my research.)
