Japan. Edo period. 18th/19th c. Ink and few colors on paper, partly reused and assembled. According to the table of contents the sketches show among others cranes with pines, three gods of good fortune, the Buddhists Vimalakirti and Hotei, poultry, an empress (k?go), the Fuji and a tiger in rain. In some drawings in small characters informations about coloration and other are given. Some of the drawings are cyclically dated, signed and titled. Length 12.6m, width 40cm. Signatures from different masters of the Kan? school. Outside and at the end of the roll there is a collector mentioned named Suzue. Condition B. Supplement: Wooden box, not original.
