India or Persia. 17th/18th c. Steel chased and with koftgari inlays of gold. The cuirass in char aina shape (lit. four mirrors) with a three dimensional sun face on the chest plate. Arm guard (bazuband/dastana) with smaller part. Round shield with six bosses on the front and a leather mounting on the back. All metal parts are covered with a dense pattern of rinding hunters and prey in swung medaillons. In the center of the shield the monarch, surrounded by hunters with arrows and bows resp. with spears looking for hares, foxes and other animals. Cuirass height 38cm, 32x24cm, arm guard length 36cm, shield ? 43cm. Condition A/B. Supplement: Belt bag with small quiver. Leather, embroiderd. Condition B. Somewhat rusty.
