拍品描述: A RUSSIAN ICON OF THE INTERCESSION OF THE HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, 18TH-19TH CENTURY
divided in two parts by displaying Heaven and Earth, the icon depicts an image of the Holy Virgin raising her arms in acceptance of the prayers of those surrounding her in the Kingdom of Heaven, while on the earth, a figure of Christ is shown further raising the prayers relayed by the Holy Mother. Egg tempera, gold leaf and gesso on wood panel. 36.2 x 31.4 cm (14 1/4 x 12 3/8 in.)
