Ceramic. Cambodia, Old Khmer Empire, approx. 11th to 12th cent.
Rare type, if even obtainable! In principle, baluster form, foot and opening are multi-ribbed and tiered. The offset shoulder presents sweeping band decor as well as ribbed cords. Noteworthy is the large flared mouth with lightly raised rim, presumably once with lid. These vessels were not for everyday use and rather served sacral purposes. The leather-colored glaze is mostly intact. The opening poss. attached, certain weathering due to age.
