拍品描述
Size: 37.5 cm.(H) Finely modelled, the figure of the Bodhisattva standing barefoot on a base of swirling waves, with her head turned to one side and with a serene expression, wearing long flowing robes that cover her hands and open at the chest to reveal a beaded ruyi necklace, her hair is swept up behind a diadem beneath the cowl, and her back impressed with a three-character seal mark of He Chaozong within a double-gourd, applied overall with an even creamy, ivory-tinged glaze. A similar figure was exhibited from the Kempe Collection, in ‘The Art of the Ching Dynasty’, The Oriental Ceramic Society, London, 1964, cat.no.294. Another from the Edward T. Chow collection, sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 19 May 1981, lot 465. See also an example at the V&A, a figure of Guanyin, Museum number c.546-1910. PROVENANCE: The family collection of Annette Worsley-Taylor. Annette Worsley-Taylor (2 July 1944 - 24 August 2015), the only child of Sir John Godfrey Worsley-Taylor, 3rd Baronet, was the founder of London Fashion Week, also founded The London Designer Collections to promote young and emerging British fashion designers. She received an MBE "for services to London Fashion Week" in the 2002 Birthday Honours.
